Thanksgiving Etc. 2010

We had some seriously good times this Thanksgiving. There is exciting stuff ahead and so much to be thankful for this year! Most of us here at the Nevil feast expressed how thankful we are that Jeremy made it through such a tough deployment safe and sound. That God returned him to us in one piece and with a sound mind.  It was a heartfelt moment when we all bowed our heads and thanked God for all He has done this year in our lives and all that we know He’ll do in the year to come!

Jeremy’s family was in town for this round of holiday and mine is coming for the next! We had a blast relaxing and enjoying the snow. There’s not much else to say, so here are some pics of the good times. Hope your Thanksgiving was fun and special too!

Ashlynn and Cooper drooling over our Thanksgiving Day traditional breakfast, cinnamon rolls from scratch!
We had a few inches of snow Sunday through Tuesday. It sort of stops all life here in the PacNW!
The boys watched football and played video games...I'm sure that's pretty much what the men in your life did too!
And us gals spent a lot of time in the kitchen together 😀
Grandma was a great help! I didn't unload my dishwasher once while she was here! Thanks Momma Marsha!
Oh yeah, the kiddos really enjoyed those cinnamon rolls 😀
The turkey turned out great, I tried it in a bag this year and it was super moist.
Jeremy was apparently behind the camera a lot because this is one of the only pics I can find of him!
Chase tried Cool Whip for the first time and LOVED it.

Our Four-Legged House Guest

Last week some very special friends of ours got married in Iowa. We weren’t able to make it to the wedding with our move coming up so soon, so instead, we are puppy sitting for some of our other special friends who went to the wedding and then home for some early Thanksgiving festivities.

Oly's parents, Jay and Carly

Oly is just a puppy, so he’ll get lots bigger, but boy is he a cutie! The boys are having tons of fun with the little man. He follows them all over the place and loves to play with them.

The first day we had Oly, Chase was not a fan and screamed basically the entire day. He refused to walk around because the dog kept smelling him and he was not a fan! But by the next day, Chase and Oly had worked out whatever stuff they had and were buds.  Now Chase says “PUPPY!” all the time. It’s really cute.

Chase and Oly

Cooper has been my big helper while Oly has been with us. In fact, we’ve already decided to give him some cash and take him to the store for a “whatever you want” experience as a reward when our puppy sitting days end. (SSSHHHHH! We haven’t told Cooper we will be doing this. ) He has been eager to help, has had a happy heart and has been way more responsible than I ever thought a 5-year old could be with a dog.  Jeremy and I are way impressed!

Now, don’t go thinking the Nevil’s are going to be in the market for a dog anytime soon. I am enjoying Oly, but think adding a dog to this brood is something that is going to have to wait until we are sans-baby. It’s a little overwhelming at times. Mostly because of the stinkin’ weather.

But in the mean time, we are enjoying our temporary house guest. He is emotionally independent, but still affectionate (a.k.a. ladies, he is never underfoot). He doesn’t bark, he doesn’t whine. He’s not uppity. He’s this totally laid back and chill little guy. He’s not a flight risk because he gets tired pretty quick. I will say he has wicked gas and is still a typical puppy who likes to chew.  But he also likes to play and is way cute when he does. My favorite thing is watching him sit next to Cooper and watch cartoons in the morning. Cooper will have his arm draped around Oly and the dog is just sitting there enjoying his buddy.

Bulldogs definitely are going on the “one day” list of Nevil-approved breeds.

Such a cutie!
