I’ve been gushing gratefulness this month. Almost everyday in fact. But today, I was stopped in my tracks by this:

Nearly 400 children rescued and 348 adults arrested in Canadian child pornography bust

Friends, this is our world. A world where children are sexually exploited. A world where people turn a blind eye. A world where people profit from this exploitation and seek out ways to perpetuate it. This is worse than disgusting. It is PURE EVIL.

We have to be aware of this and we have to speak against it.  We have to teach and empower other people, other adults AND children, that it is RIGHT to speak OUT against these things! Stand up! Speak out! Stop the cycle of abuse! Do not turn a blind eye! Do not assume that anyone is worthy of your trust. The article says that “Among those arrested were 40 school teachers, nine doctors and nurses, six law enforcement personnel, nine pastors and priests and three foster parents.”. Those who are in our society who we assume are safe, are held up as worthy of our trust, they were the ones perpetrating these crimes against the ones in our world who are the most vulnerable.

Today, I am grateful for a God who sees. And I am grateful for a God who promises to enact HIS justice-which is worse, and more long-suffering, more horrific and more awful than any justice human hands can enact.

5 “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf[a] is welcoming me. 6 But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.7 “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting. 8 So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand or one foot than to be thrown into eternal fire with both of your hands and feet.9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.[b]10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.[c]” The Bible, Matthew 18:5-10

“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (The Bible, Proverbs 31:8-9, ESV)
