Ok, today’s question is:

What do you look for in a babysitter?

To help get your brain going beyond an answer like “available,” here are a few questions I have:
-Do you want them to share your life values/worldview? Why or why not?
-How old do you want them to be/not be? Why or why not?
-Would you allow a boy/young man to watch your kids? Why or why not?

There, hope that helps. Let’s talk!

  1. If you need a babysitter, let me know. I love kiddos and have some time on my hands since I am not working.

  2. I think a lot of it depends on how long you’re going to be gone. If you’re talking a few hours and they might be asleep for part of it, then a 15-16 year old who is responsible or a 18 year old is fine. We have used some of the teenage girls from our church a few times for short outings. Obviously, if it’s longer, I would prefer an adult. I think boys can be great babysitters, if they have experience with little kids, like they have neices and nephews or something. And, yeah, I think sharing your worldview helps . . but I guess I’ve never even really considered a babysitter that wasn’t either in the family or a friend from church.

    1. Thanks Laura! I ask because being so far away from family and being military means the pool is a little different! It’s always good to see what other people do and how they approach it. Thanks!
