Our 5-year-old (almost 6) niece, Ashlynn, tells a lot of jokes. I think it must be the age, because most kids that age seem to be trying their hand in joke telling. However the jokes usually go something like this:
giggle giggle giggle…no answer
They usually make absolutely no sense and the humor is in the attempt at the kiddo to crack a joke. This is why we laugh and then that is why they keep trying!
I totally expect Cooper to be a class clown. He loves to be the center of attention and has been telling random stories for over a year now. They are usually pretty fantastical stories too. (Hmmm…I’m noticing a “like Daddy” trend here….) This fall when Cooper starts preschool, well, I can already guess what the teacher will tell me about him and his struggles in class (and his strengths)!
So when Cooper told us his first joke the other day-and did it flawlessly-we were pretty surprised! I figured he would start that next year or so and that he would mess up a lot before he understood how to deliver a joke. Here’s the joke Cooper told us:
“I’ve been working on the railroad, all the live long day!”
ha ha ha ha ha! I am pretty sure he repeated this off of a cartoon. I doubt he has figured out all that goes in to a joke. But it is only a matter of time before he’s driving everyone crazy with his corny, cheesy jokes! My own comedian!
